Beirut born restaurant group Em Sherif is delighted to be bringing its world renowned Lebanese cuisine to Harrods later this year.
Chef and Founder Mireille Hayek opened her first restaurant in 2011 and has grown the group to twelve venues across the Middle East. Harrods will proudly be the first outpost in Europe for Em Sherif and we can think of nowhere better for this award-winning venue.
Em Sherif
Em Sherif was founded by Mireille Hayek. With no formal training or experience, but a strong passion for cooking and the encouragement of her family who loved to eat her food, she opened her first restaurant, La Parilla, in Lebanon in 2006. The success of this venue led her to open a second restaurant concept in 2009, Yasmina, an Indian fusion restaurant, named after her daughter.
In 2011, Mrs Hayek opened what would go on to become the crown jewel in her restaurant empire, Em Sherif, named after her Son. Since then, they have formed an unstoppable team, working together across all restaurant projects. She says: “He is the head and I am the heart”. Their main aim is to become a landmark in authentic oriental cuisine worldwide.
Mireille Hayek’s hard work has not gone unnoticed. In March this year, Mrs Hayek was listed in the top 9 female led restaurants and bars to watch in the world. This campaign was set up for International Women’s day 2021 and focused on women that were pushing the hospitality industry forward around the world, women who #choosetochallenge the stereotypes and preconceptions of a predominantly male led industry.
Em Sherif has also been included in many other top lists including twice the world 50 best restaurants Academy and discovery, 7 Best restaurants in Lebanon 50 best restaurants in The Gulf and has been ranked best Lebanese restaurant in Lebanon on trip advisor for 5 consecutive years.
